Yoga and Surf Retreat in Morocco

Paradis Plague is a relaxed 4-star beach resort located on the beach close to the famous surf town of Taghazout. If you’re into surfing or Standup Paddleboard, Paradis Plague has Rip Curl gear and excellent instructors. Swim in the turquoise sea, take a boat ride, or wander the enormous sandy beach that runs for a mile in each direction. The coastal town of Agadir or Essaouira is close enough for a day trip to check out Moroccan carpets, delicious seafood, and Moroccan culture.


Relax by the pool and treat yourself to a traditional Moroccan hammam or an outdoor massage on the beach, shaded by sheets of white veils blown by the soft ocean winds.


At the end of the day, enjoy a beach fire and listen to the sound of the waves and gaze at the stars. Or, curl up in a sofa and watch a movie in the outdoor cinema. The weather in October is gorgeous and one of the best months to be in Morocco.


The focus, of course, is yoga – on and off the mat – to enhance your appreciation of all that is around you. Two yoga classes a day in the exquisite yoga shala overlooking the sea. This is and opportunity for each student to practice at his/her own level making the week suitable for students of different abilities. Have a yoga adventure in the mystical land of its birth and get to the spiritual heart of the practice.


Start your day with basic pranayama and meditation, followed by a slow, mindful Vinyasa Flow class. Study BKS Iyengar technique and alignment principles (acts of Dharana) in the afternoon ‘Yoga Clinic.’ Restorative yoga is used as a healing/transformational tool to move through fear and release hardness in the body, experience deep inner peace and insight, and learn to be at ease in the present moment.

Heather is skilled at reading ‘individual’ bodies and knows how to help each student to have good alignment, strength and flexibility, and peace in an asana. This retreat is designed to help you improve your practice technically, so you can avoid injury and recover from imbalances. Yoga philosophy and Ancient wisdom traditions are infused into the teachings in a way that diminishes suffering in our lives. It’s a deep practice that moves beyond the physical experience to make the yogic inquiry authentic and relevant to real life.

  • Develop a Meditation practice and learn about the ‘inner limbs’ of yoga;
  • Improve your asana technique through safe adjustments and prop use;
  • Study the inner / outer techniques of Vinyasa that tie the poses together in a ‘moving meditation;’
  • Feel safe enough to work honestly at your edge, try more difficult asanas, and transform blocked energy in problem areas (hips & shoulders).
  • Experience the joy of practicing asana with humility and grace;
  • Enhance your focus and concentration skills and learn how not to over-react in a situation;
  • Discover emotional intelligence and lucidity of mind;
  • Develop a daily practice that is so inspiring you’ll want to get on your mat as soon as you get home.
  • Be a yogi for life!


This workshop will inspire and challenge all levels of yoga student. Participants have ranged in age from 19 – 68. Beginners are welcome as long as you have some yoga experience, are relatively fit and willing to try. Afternoons are free for sightseeing, swimming in the sea or pool, relaxation and massage.


Paradis Plage has a very relaxed vibe and the staff is friendly and attentive. The resort is shaped around the large heated swimming pool and has numerous outdoor seating areas overlooking the sea. The accommodation is smart and stylish, but not over-the-top luxurious. The bedroom suites are large and almost all have terraces and views over the ocean. There are two Yoga pavilions, one set on the beach, another anchored in a dune dominating the sea. Both are purposely built for Yoga and immerse your senses in the smell, sound and view of the Atlantic Ocean.


Dine el fresco and enjoy the sunset over the Atlantic, or in a nomad tent set up on the beach that transports you to the magic setting of the desert. Paradis Plage cuisine integrates the richness of the great Moroccan classics with new inventions created by young Moroccan chefs. All dishes are organic and locally sourced. The richness of local products create a healthy, fresh and perfumed cuisine with seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well fresh seafood and shellfish. Thanks to the adjacent fishers village, priority is also given to fresh fish brought every morning by boats of traditional fishing. Breakfast includes muesli, fresh fruit, grenades, prickly figs and other fruits of the region depending in the season, or Moroccan pancakes with honey produced in local hives.


Paradis Plage is the perfect place if you’re interested in surfing or trying stand-up paddleboard (SUP). They have certified surfing instructors and Rip Curl equipment: boards, suits and accessories. The Surf School teaches you how to surf or develop your skills, taking you to the spot that is most adapted to your level. Expert surfers can explore surf spots and discover waves accessible only by boat.


The Surf House includes a bar corner, a lounge and a big terrace in front of sea, and is the perfect spot to meet after surf sessions.


An outdoor movie theater set up at the back of the surf center, equally offering the possibility to watch movies under the stars enjoying the sea air.


Paradise Spa offers a variety of holistic treatments. Experience a traditional Moroccan spa treatment in the hammam designed with Tadelaqt paint, marble and zellige tiles. Only the best local products are used: Orange Blossom, Citrus, Eucalyptus, Shea butter, black soap, Argan oil of Taroudant, Ghassoul of the Atlas, Taliouine Safran, Rose of Dades, Honey of Immouzzer.

Prices include: 2 yoga classes a day, 3 meals a day, and 7 nights shared accommodation.

Prices exclude: flights, additional food/beverages, personal insurance, massages, laundry, excursions. Airport transfers on our recommended flights are £15 each way.


Booking & Payment: If the retreat is of interest to you please let me know and we will hold a room for you. If you decide to go ahead we will need to take a £350 deposit and the balance will then be due 10 weeks before the retreat, this can be paid for over the telephone or by bank transfer.
